Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana
1192. SHRI JOYANTA BASUMATARY:
Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state:
(a) the details regarding the beneficiaries under the Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana (VPBY)
as of January 2026, State-wise;
(b) the details regarding the number of complaints filed for non-receipt or for any other issues
pertaining to the said scheme and current status of all such complaints;
(c) the details regarding the cost incurred by the Government for the dispensation of this
scheme till January 2026;
(d) the details regarding tax collected at the time of disbursement of annual benefits since its
inception; and
(e) whether the Government has any plans to bring the said scheme under the "exempt"
category for tax purposes and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) State wise details of beneficiaries under Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana has been
attached as per Annexure ‘A’.
(b) The data pertaining to Grievances received in respect of Varishtha Pension Bima
Yojana is attached as per Annexure ‘B’.
(c) The details of subsidy received till January 2026 from GOI under VPBY Plan is given
herein as per Annexure ‘C’.
(d) No tax is collected at the time of disbursement of annual benefits in respect of policies
under VPBY Scheme.
(e) No such proposal is under consideration.Annexure ‘A’
