Will the Minister of POWER
be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware that the Punjab and Haryana High Court has
dismissed Punjab’s plea to recall its order regarding the release of additional water to
Haryana from Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the steps being taken by the Government to ensure compliance with the High
Court’s order and to resolve the ongoing water sharing dispute between Punjab and
Haryana;
(c) whether the Government has received any representations from Punjab regarding
alleged concealment of facts by BBMB or concerns about the process followed during
May 2, 2025 meeting and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the action taken/to be taken by the Government to address these concerns and to
ensure transparency and fairness in inter-State water allocation?

(a) : The Punjab and Haryana High Court vide Order dated 26.05.2025 dismissed
Punjab’s plea to recall its order regarding the release of additional water to
Haryana from Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) raised in CM-7264-CWP-
2025 in CWP-12858-2025.
(b) to (d) : The distribution of water among the partner states in BBMB is being
done by the Technical Committee chaired by Chairman BBMB with Chief
Engineers of the partner states and the Chief Engineer of Central Water
Commission (CWC) as members. The Technical Committee, on the basis of water
availability and requirement of the states, makes a fair and transparent
distribution of water. Government of India has received no representation
regarding water distribution from Punjab. Also, the Government of India has no
direct role in distribution of water in BBMB among the partner States.
