Parliament Question: Women Criminals

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 5064 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 24TH MARCH, 2026/ CHAITRA 3, 1948 (SAKA) WOMEN CRIMINALS †5064. SHRI MANSUKHBHAI DHANJIBHAI VASAVA: Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the details of serious crimes committed by women in Uttar Pradesh during the last ten years, year-wise; (b) the reasons for not taking action in the said cases which are instigated by criminal gangs and reported to the police; (c) the reasons for not taking any action against the women criminals and filing a final report despite serious incidents of targeting their own children; and (d) the relief proposed to be given by Government to such affected families who are at brink of death in the said cases? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI NITYANAND RAI) (a) to (d): National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) compiles and publishes information on Crimes, received from States/Union Territories, in its publication "Crime in India". The published reports are available till the year 2023.-2- L.S.US.Q.NO. 5064 FOR 24.03.2026 Details of crimes committed by women in a particular state is not maintained by the NCRB. However, Crime Heads-wise Cases Registered, Female Persons Arrested and Female Persons Convicted under Cognizable IPC Crimes during 2014-2023 are available on NCRB website (http://ncrb.gov.in). 'Police' and 'Public Order' are State subjects as per the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India. The State Governments are responsible for prevention, detection, registration and investigation of crime and for prosecuting the criminals through their law enforcement agencies. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs issues advisories to States and UTs, from time to time, to maintain law and order and ensure that any person who takes law into his/her own hand is punished promptly as per law. ******
