The notification concerns the Jashapur Gram Panchayat in Talala Taluka, Gir Somnath District. The Development Commissioner, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar, is of the opinion that the Jashapur Gram Panchayat has persistently failed to perform its duties under the Gujarat Panchayat Act of 1993. The Gram Panchayat was given an opportunity to explain why action should not be taken against it under Section 253 of the Act, but it failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. The District Panchayat, Gir Somnath, has recommended the dissolution of the Gram Panchayat.
The Development Commissioner has concluded that the Gram Panchayat is unable to administer. Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 253 of the Gujarat Panchayat Act-1993, the Development Commissioner dissolves the Jashapur Gram Panchayat from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette. A separate order detailing the reasons for the dissolution will be issued.
