No.KV-385 of 2025/UDUHD/MSM/e-file/18/2025/0418/P Section:- WHEAREAS the Government of Gujarat has, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-clause (a) of clause (iii) of sub-section (3) of section 5 of the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations Act, 1949 (Bom. LIX of 1949) (hereinafter referred to as "the said Act") vide Government Notification, Urban Development and Urban Housing Department No. KV-237 of 2025/UDUHD/MSM/e-file/18/ 2025/0418/P Section, dated the 9th July, 2025 determined the number of wards and seats (including the seats reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and Women) for the Mahesana Municipal Corporation of the City of Mahesana; AND WHEAREAS the Government of Gujarat has, in exercise of powers conferred by clause (2) of article 243Q of the Constitution of India vide Government Notification, Urban Development and Urban Housing Department No. GV-352 of 2025/UDUHD/MSM/e-file/18/2025/5513/P Section, dated the 25th September, 2025 included certain areas within the limits of Mahesana Municipal Corporation of the City of Mahesana; I-A Ex.-168 168-1168-2 GUJARAT GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, EX., 06-11-2025 [ PART I-A AND WHEREAS the number of Wards and Seats of Councillors and number of seats to be reserved for Scheduled Castes, Schedule Tribes, Backward Classes and Women are required to be ascertained in accordance with the figure of the population as declared on the basis of census-2011 as also in view of the provision of sections 5 of the said Act; AND WHEREAS the General Election of the Municipal Corporation of the City of Mahesana is to be held: NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-clause (a) of clause (iii) of sub-section (3) of section 5 read with sub-sections (4), (5), (6) and (7) of section 5 of the said Act and in supersession of the Government Notification. Urban Development and Urban Housing Department No. KV-237 of 2025/UDUHD/MSM/e-file/18/2025/0418/P Section, dated the 9th July 2025, so far as the City of Mahesana is concerned, the Government of Gujarat hereby determines the number of Wards and Seats as follows:- 1) The areas of the City of Mahesana shall be divided into Thirteen (13) Wards and the Municipal Corporation of the City of Mahesana shall consist of Fifty-Two (52) Councillors; 2) Out of the Fifty-Two (52) Seats, - (i) Five (5) Seats shall be reserved for the persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes out of which Two (2) Seats shall be reserved for women belonging to the Scheduled Castes; (ii) One (1) Seat shall be reserved for the persons belonging to the Scheduled Tribes; (iii) Fourteen (14) Seats shall be reserved for the persons belonging to the Backward Classes out of which Seven (7) Seats shall be reserved for women belonging to the Backward Classes; (iv) Twenty-Six (26) Seats shall be reserved for the women (including the number of seats reserved for the women belonging to Scheduled Castes and the Backward Classes referred to as above). Provided that the supersession of the Government Notification, Urban Development and Urban Housing Department No. KV-237 of 2025/UDUHD/MSM/e-file/18/2025/0418/P Section, dated the 9th July, 2025, shall not affect anything done or any action taken thereunder and any proceedings under the said notification pending at the commencement of this notification shall be continued until it is disposed off.
