URBAN DEVELOPMENT AND URBAN HOUSING DEPARTMENT NOTIFICATION Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar, 27th April, 2026 GUJARAT MUNICIPALITIES ACT, 1963. No. KV-70/2026/UDUHD/CCA/e-file/18/2025/6590/R Section :- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 47-A and sub-section (2) of section 47 read with sub-section (3) of section 277 of the Gujarat Municipalities Act, 1963, (Guj. 34 of 1964), the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Chief Sanitary Inspector, Class III, in the Gujarat State Municipal Sanitary Inspectors’ Services, namely:- 1. (1) These rules may be called the Chief Sanitary Inspector, Class III, in the Gujarat State Municipal Sanitary Inspectors’ Services, Recruitment Rules, 2026. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. I-A Ex.-82 82-182-2 GUJARAT GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, EX., 11-05-2026 [ PART I-A 2. Appointment to the post of Chief Sanitary Inspector, Class III, in the Gujarat State Municipal Sanitary Inspectors’ Services shall be made by promotion of a person who possesses “Good” benchmark for being considered fit for promotion within the zone of consideration as laid down in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967 from amongst the persons who, - (i) have worked for not less than five years in the cadre of Municipal Sanitary Inspector, Class III, in the Gujarat State Municipal Sanitary Inspectors’ Service; (ii) have passed the departmental examination as may be prescribed by the Government; and (iii) have passed the qualifying examination for computer knowledge in accordance with the provisions of the Gujarat Civil Services Computer Competency Training and Examination Rules, 2006: Provided that where the appointing authority is satisfied that a person having the experience as specified in clause (i) above is not available for promotion and it is necessary in the public interest to fill up the post by promotion even of a person having experience for a lesser period; it may, for reasons to be recorded in writing, promote such person who possesses experience of a period of not less than two-thirds of the period specified in clause (i) above; 3. The candidate appointed by promotion shall be required to undergo such training and pass such examination as may be prescribed by the Government. 4. The following rules shall mutatis mutandis apply to the person appointed as a Chief Sanitary Inspector, Class III, in the Gujarat State Municipal Sanitary Inspectors’ Services namely: - (1) The Gujarat Civil Services (Pay) Rules, 2002. (2) The Gujarat Civil Services (Additions to Pay) Rules, 2002. (3) The Gujarat Civil Services (General Conditions of Services) Rules, 2002. (4) The Gujarat Civil Services (Traveling Allowance) Rules, 2002. (5) The Gujarat Civil Services (Occupation of Government Residential Accommodation) Rules, 2002. (6) The Gujarat Civil Services (Joining Time, Foreign Service, Deputation Out of India, Payment during Suspension, Dismissal and Removal) Rules, 2002. (7) The Gujarat Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 2002. (8) The Gujarat Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2002. (9) The Gujarat Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1971. (10) The Gujarat Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1971. (11) The Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. (12) The Gujarat Civil Services (New Contributory Pension Scheme) Rules, 2024.
