GUJARAT MUNICIPALITIES ACT, 1963.
No. KV/ 67 of 2026 UDUHD/mea/e-file/18/2023/8977/M:- WHEREAS certain draft rules further to amend the Gujarat
Municipalities (Reservation of SC, ST, BC and Women for the office of the President) Rules, 1994, were published
as required by sub-section (3) of section 277 of the Gujarat Municipalities Act, 1963 (Guj.34 of 1964), at pages 21-1
to 21-2 of the Gujarat Government Gazette, Extraordinary, PART I-A, Central Section, dated the 10th February, 2026,
under the Government Notification, Urban Development and Urban Housing Department No.KV/14 of 2026/UDUHD/
mea/e-file/18/2023/8977/M, dated the 10th February, 2026, inviting objections or suggestions from all persons likely to
be affected thereby for a periods of thirty days from the date of publication of the said notification in the Official
Gazette;

AND WHEREAS no objection or suggestion has been received by the Government in respect to the said draft
notification;
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 277 read with sub-section (3) of
section 33 of the Gujarat Municipalities Act, 1963 (Guj.34 of 1964), the Government of Gujarat hereby makes the
following rules further to amend the Gujarat Municipalities (Reservation of SC, ST, BC and Women for the office of
the President) Rules, 1994, namely: -
1. These rules may be called the Gujarat Municipalities (Reservation of SC, ST, BC and Women for the office of the
President) (Amendment) Rules, 2026.
2. In the Gujarat Municipalities (Reservation of SC, ST, BC and Women for the office of the President)
(Amendment) Rules, 1994, (hereinafter referred to as “the said rules”), for rule 2, the following rule shall be
substituted, namely: -
"2. Reservation in favour of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and women: - The office of
the President of a Municipality shall be reserved in favour of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward
Classes and women in accordance with the roster shown in SCHEDULE-1 and SCHEDULE-2.".
3. In the said rules, SCHEDULE-1 to SCHEDULE-21 shall be deleted.
4. In the said rules, existing SCHEDULE-22 shall be renumbered as “SCHEDULE-1” and after SCHEDULE-1 as so
renumbered, the following SCHEDULE and the note there under shall be added, namely: -
