Transport service for the carriage of passengers or goods by air, road or water; or II. Postal telegraph or telephone service; or III. Supply of power, light or water to the public by any establishment; or IV. System of public conserving or sanitation; or V. Service in hospital or dispensary; or VI. Insurance service. VII. Banking and financial services including private finance VIII. Housing and estate services IX. Services under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 X. Educational services. XI. Other Services which the Central Government or the State Government, as the case may be, may, in the public interest, by notification declare to be a public utility service for the purpose of Chapter VI-A of the Act. NOTE: Sr. No. (vii) to Sr. No.(x) added as per Government of Gujarat, Legal Department Notification No.GK/36/2014/ LSA/102014/328/D, dated 29.11.2014. (2) Any pre-litigation matters pertaining to the aforesaid Public Utility Service, may be brought before such Permanent Lok Adalat. Provided that the Permanent Lok Adalat shall not have jurisdiction in respect of any matter relating to an offence not compoundable under any law; Provided further that the Permanent Lok Adalat shall also not have jurisdiction in the matters where the value of the property in dispute exceeds one crore rupees.CENTRAL SECTION ] GUJARAT GOVERNMENT GAZETTE EX., 17-08-2026 32-3 (3) Every Permanent Lok Adalat shall consist of Chairman and two other persons as provided in sub Section 2 of Section 22(B) of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. (4) The terms and conditions of appointment of the Chairman & other persons referred to in para 4 above shall be as under: - Retired District Judge /Retired Additional District Judge shall be the Chairman of the concerned Permanent Lok Adalat in each District and two other persons having adequate experience in public utility services which may be nominated by the State Government on the recommendation of the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority will be the members of such Permanent Lok Adalat. (5) The Permanent Lok Adalats shall follow the procedure as prescribed in Section 22C, 22D and 22E of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. (6) The aforesaid Permanent Lok Adalats shall come in the existence on the date of the publication of the Notification in the Government Gazette.
