THE OFFICIAL SECRETS ACT, 1923.
No.GG/151/2025/SB1/OSA/102018/6707(5): - WHEREAS, the Government of Gujarat is of the opinion that the
information with respect to, or the destruction or the obstruction of or interference with the place specified in the
Schedule appended hereto would be useful to an enemy;
NOW THEREFORE, in exercise of the power conferred by sub-clause (d) of clause (8) of section 2 of the
Official Secrets Act, 1923 (XIX of 1923) read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Notification
No. 21/20/62/Poll (I) dated the 4th May, 1963, the Government of Gujarat hereby declares with effect on and from the
date of publication of this notification, in the official Gazette, the said place, to be 'the prohibited place' for the purposes
of the said Act, and directs that copies of this notification in English and Gujarati be affixed at the said place.
Nothing contained in this notification shall apply to: -
1. The members of the police force belonging to the State of Gujarat,
2. The members of the Army, Navy or Air Force of the Union,
3. Persons employed in the aforesaid places, and
4. The Magistrates referred in Section-14 of Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023.
The aforesaid categories of persons shall be exempted only for discharging their official duties.

PRISONS ACT, 1894.
No. GG/156/JLM/2025/2764/J:- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub section (10) of section 59 read with
section 6 of the Prisons Act, 1894 (IX of 1894) and in supersession of all the rules made in this behalf, the Government
of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules to provide for regulating recruitment to the post of Jailor Group-II (Male),
Class III, in the subordinate service of the Jail Department, namely:-
1. (1) These rules may be called the Jailor Group-II (Male), Class III, Recruitment Rules, 2025.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Appointment to the post of Jailor Group-II (Male), Class III, in the subordinate service of the Jail Department
shall be made either, –
(a) by promotion of a person who possesses “Good” benchmark for being considered fit for promotion within
the zone of consideration as laid down in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment
(General) Rules, 1967, from amongst the persons who, -
(i) have worked for not less than five years in the cadre of Subedar (Male), Class III, in the subordinate
service of the Jail Department;
(ii) have passed the qualifying examination for computer knowl- edge in accordance with the provisions
of the Gujarat Civil Services Computer Competency Training and Examination Rules, 2006; and
(iii) possess a valid heavy or light motor vehicle driving licence as on date of promotion:
Provided that where the appointing authority is satisfied that a person having the experience
as specified in sub-clause (i) above is not available for promotion and that it is necessary in the
public interest to fill up the post by promotion of a person having experience for a lesser period; it
may, for reasons to be recorded in writing, promote such person who possesses experience of a
period of not less than two-thirds of the period specified in sub-clause (i) above; or
(b) on the basis of the result of the combined competitive examination held for the purpose.
3. Appointment by promotion and on the basis of the result of the combined competitive examination held for the
purpose shall be made in the ratio of 1:1, respectively.
4. To be eligible for appointment on the basis of the result of the combined competitive examination held for the
purpose to the post mentioned in rule 2, a candidate shall, –PART IV-A ] GUJARAT GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 20-11-2025 541
(a) not be more than 35 years of age:
Provided that, the upper age limit may be relaxed in favour of a candidate belonging to the
Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Socially and Educationally Backward Classes, and Economically
Weaker Sections in accordance with the provisions of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and
Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967;
(b) possess a Bachelor's degree obtained from any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under
the Central or a State Act in India; or any other educational institution recognised as such or declared to
be deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act 1956; or possess an
equivalent qualification recognised by the Government;
(c) possess the basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services
Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967;
(d) possess the minimum requisite standards of physique as specified in Appendix 'A' appended to these
rules; and
(e) possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hind or both.
5. The provisions of rule 9A of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967
shall be applicable in respect of a candidate appointed on the basis of the result of the combined competitive
examination held for the purpose.
6. The candidate appointed on the basis of the result of the combined competitive examination held for the
purpose, shall have to possess valid heavy/light motor vehicle driving licence within the stipulated period of
service on contractual basis.
7. The candidate appointed on the basis of the result of the combined competitive examination held for the
purpose during his stipulated period of service on contractual basis, shall be required to undergo prison staff
training and pass the post- training examination in accordance with the provisions of the Gujarat Prisons Staff
Training Rules, 1981.
8. The candidate appointed on the basis of the result of the combined competitive examination held for the
purpose shall have to undergo such training and to pass such examination as may be prescribed by the
Government.
9. The candidate appointed on the basis of the result of the combined competitive examination held for the
purpose shall be required to furnish a security and surety bond in such form, for such amount, and for such
period as may be prescribed by the Government.
Appendix ' A'
(see rule 4(d))
Minimum Physical Standards for the post of Jailor Group-II (Male), Class III
Physical Standards for the different classes of persons shall be as under: -
(i) All the candidates shall be physically fit as per standards as specified below:

(ii) The candidates with any one or more of the following physical defects shall be considered physically unfit: -
Knock Knee, Pigeon Chest, Squint Eye, Flat Feet, Varicose Veins, Hammer Toes, Fractured Limb, Decayed

I Mean fit in all respect to perform normal professional functions
under each or the above-mentioned heads:
Provided that the candidate with colour blindness defects shall be considered unfit for appointment.
(iv) The candidates shall be free from any surgical deformities such as knock-knees, flat-foot and shall not have
any past history of fits or psychiatric ailments, varicose vein, etc.
The Authorized Medical Officer shall examine the candidate and issue the certificate of fitness, taking
into consideration the physical standards as specified herein above.

No. GG/157/JLM/2025/2764/J:- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub section (10) of section 59 read with

7. The candidate appointed on the basis of the result of the combined competitive examination held for the
purpose shall have to undergo such training and to pass such examination as may be prescribed by the
Government.
