Maharashtra Motor Vehicle tax act, 1958.
No. MRD-3325/CR195/UD-7.– In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1-A), (1-B),
(1-C), (1-D) and (1-E) of section 20 of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Tax Act (LXV of 1958), and of
all the powers enabling it in this behalf, the Government of Maharashtra hereby declares that, the
toll shall be levied on the classes of motor vehicles specified in column (2) of the Schedule-I mentioned
below and on the trailers drawn by such motor vehicles, passing over the section Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu and also approach roads thereto, at the rates specified against each
of the said vehicles in column (3) of the said Schedule-I, with effect from the 1st January, 2026 to
the 31st January 2026 at toll collection specified in column (2) of the Schedule II mentioned below
constructed at the Chainage Nos. specified against each of the said toll collection centres specified
in the column (2) of the Schedule II on the said section of the said road.

Explanation :
(a) “Car” or “jeep” or “van” or “light motor vehicle” means any mechanical vehicle the gross
vehicle weight of which does not exceed seven thousand five hundred kilograms or the registered
passenger carrying capability as specified in the certificate of registration issued under the Motor
Vehicles Act, 1988 does not exceed twelve excluding the driver;
(b) “Light commercial vehicle” or “light goods vehicle” or “mini bus” means any mechanical
vehicle with a gross vehicle weight equal to or exceeding seven thousand five hundred kilograms but
less than twelve thousand kilograms or the registered passenger carrying capability as specified in
the certificate of registration issued under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, exceeds twelve but does not
exceed thirty-two excluding the driver;
(c) “Truck” or “bus” means any mechanical vehicle with a gross vehicle weight exceeding twelve
thousand kilograms but less than twenty thousand kilograms or the registered passenger carrying
capability as specified in the certificate of registration issued under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988,
exceeds thirty-two, excluding the driver;
(d) “Three-axle vehicle” means any mechanical vehicle with three-axles (inclusive of the axles
of the trailers, if any) and with a gross vehicle weight, less than or equal to twenty-five thousand
kilograms;
(e) “Heavy construction machinery” or “earth moving equipment” or “multi axle vehicle”
means heavy construction machinery or earth moving equipment or mechanical vehicle including a
multi axle vehicle with 4 to six axles or vehicle (inclusive of axles of the trailers, if any) with a gross

(f) “Oversized vehicle” means any mechanical vehicle having seven or more axles or vehicle
with a gross vehicle weight equal to or exceeding sixty thousand kilograms.
Notes :—
The following types of vehicles are exempted from payment of toll, namely :—
(a) transporting and accompanying, -
(i) the President of India;
(ii) the Vice-President of India;
(iii) the Prime-Minister of India;
(iv) the Chief Justice of India;
(v) the Governor;
(vi) the Lieutenant Governor;
(vii) the Union Minister;
(viii) the Chief Minister;
(ix) the Judge of Supreme Court;
(x) the Chairman of the Council of State (Rajya Sabha);
(xi) the Speaker of the House of People (Lok Sabha);
(xii) the Chairman of the Legislative Council of the State;
(xiii) the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the State;
(xiv) the Chief Justice of High Court;
(xv) the Judge of High Court;
(xvi) Ministers of State Cabinet;
(xvii) Foreign dignitaries on State visit;
(xviii) Vehicle in which the sitting Member of Parliament, Maharashtra Legislative
Assembly and Maharashtra Legislative Council are travelling;
(xix) Vehicles in which ex-Members of Parliament from Maharashtra, Maharashtra
Legislative Assembly and Maharashtra Legislative Council are travelling;
(b) Vehicles used for official purpose by,-
(i) Defence Officials
(ii) The Central and State armed forces including paramilitary forces and Police
Department officials;
(iii) Fire-fighting Department;
(iv) Department of Post;
(v) Officers inspecting and monitoring the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva
Atal Setu;
(c)Ambulance and Hearses.
(d) e-4W cars (M1)(Transport and Non-Transport vehicle), e-buses (M3, M4)(STU), e-buses

2. Concessions in rates of toll are as given below :—
(a) The rates of return journey pass and daily pass of the frequently plying vehicle shall be one
and half times and two and half times of their respective one way travel rates. Return journey pass
and daily pass shall be valid upto 12.00 midnight of the day of issuing the pass.
(b) The rates of monthly passes will be 50 times of their respective one way travel rates.
3. Non-propelled vehicles, animal drawn carts, two wheelers, three wheelers, six-seater auto
rickshaw, tractors and any form of non-motorized traffic are not permitted on Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu.
4. For the purpose of this Notification the “Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development
Authority” is authorized to collect toll at the above mentioned toll collection Plazas on Atal Bihari
Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu for above mentioned period in Schedule-I, II and III & retain
the amount of the toll by authorized collector only.
