PROMOTION OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES UNDER FAME II AND PM E DRIVE

Will the Minister of Heavy Industries be pleased to state:
(a) the category-wise details of electric vehicles supported under FAME-II and PM E-
DRIVE schemes;
(b) the number of the sanctioned e-buses under FAME-II and PM E-DRIVE that have been
deployed, city-wise;
(c) the details of achievements under the PLI-Auto scheme in terms of approved applicants
and investment commitments;
(d) the roadmap for Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Electric Passenger Cars in India
(SPMEPCI) to ensure achievement of minimum Domestic Value Addition (DVA) targets within
stipulated timelines; and
(e) the pattern of utilization for allocated funds under PM E-DRIVE for EV public charging
stations?

(a) & (b): The category-wise electric vehicles (EVs) supported (sold) under FAME-II
Scheme during the period 01/04/2019 till 31.03.2024 are as under: -

As on 31.01.2026, 5,195 e-buses have been deployed out of total 6,862 e-buses
sanctioned under the FAME-II Scheme. City-wise details of e-buses deployed under the scheme
are provided at Annexure I.-2-
Under the PM E-DRIVE scheme, as on 16.03.2026, total of 23,45,820 EVs have been
sold, as per details provided below :

As on 16.03.2026, a total of 13,800 e-buses have been allocated in two phases for
deployment in seven cities having a population of more than 40 lakh viz. Bangalore, Delhi,
Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Pune. Tender for Phase-I of allocation for 10,900
e-buses has already concluded. Further, Tender for Phase-II of allocation for 2,900 e-buses has
been floated and last date for bid submission is 09.04.2026. Post conclusion of the tender, the
concession agreement is executed between the State Transport Undertaking and the selected
bidder for deployment of Buses.
(c): As on 16.03.2026, there are 71 approved applicants under the PLI Auto Scheme. The
investment made under the Scheme is Rs.39,081 crore as on 31.12.2025.
(d): As per the guidelines of Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Electric Passenger Cars
in India (SPMEPCI), approved applicant is required to achieve a DVA of minimum 25 percent
by end of 3rd year and minimum 50% by end of 5th year for the e-4W manufactured in its
facilities.
(e): Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has issued operational guidelines for “deployment
of EV Public Charging Stations (EVPCS)” on 26.09.2025, which provide the framework for
implementation of charging infrastructure projects. As on 16.03.2026, no expenditure has been
incurred towards deployment of EVPCS under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme.
