मोटर यान अजधजनयम, 1988 (1988 का 59) की धारा 212 की उपधारा (1) की अपक्षे ानसु ार, भारत सरकार के सडक
पररवहन और रािमाग गमंत्रालय की अजधसूचना संख्या सा.का.जन. 27(अ), तारीख 20 माचग, 2026 द्वारा भारत के रािपत्र,
असाधारण, भाग II, खंड 3, उपखंड (i) में प्रकाजित दकया गया था, जिसमें ऐसे सभी व्यजियों से, जिनके उससे प्रभाजवत
होने की संभावना ह,ै उस तारीख से, जिसको उि रािपत्र की प्रजतयां िनता को उपलब्ध करा िी गयी थीं, से तीस दिन के
भीतर आक्षेप और सुझाव मांगे गए थे;
और उि रािपत्र अजधसूचना की प्रजतयां िनता के जलए 24 माचग, 2026 को उपलब्ध करा िी गई थीं; और उि
प्ररूप जनयमों के संबंध म ेंिनता से कोई आक्षेप और सुझाव नहीं जमले ह ैं।
अत:अब,केन्द्रीय सरकार, मोटर यान अजधजनयम, 1988 (1988 का 59) की धारा 110 द्वारा प्रित्त िजियों का
प्रयोग करते हुए, केन्द्रीय मोटर यान जनयम, 1989 म ेंऔर संिोधन करने के जलए जनम्नजलजखत जनयम बनती है, अथागत्:-
1. सजं क्षप्त नाम और प्रारंभ.- (1) इन जनयमों का संजक्षप्त नाम केन्द्रीय मोटर यान (िसवां संिोधन) जनयम, 2026 ह ै।
(2) य ेरािपत्र में उनके प्रकािन की तारीख से प्रवृत्त होंग े।
2. मोटर यान जनयम, 1989 (जिसे इसमें इसके पश्चात् उि जनयम कहा गया ह)ै के जनयम 126ड. में, उपजनयम (9) के
पश्चात,् जनम्नजलजखत उपजनयम अंत:स्ट्थाजपत दकया िाएगा, अथागत्:-

“(10) उपयिुग उप-जनयम (2), (4) और (7) म ेंअंतर्वगष्ट दकसी भी बात के होते हुए भी, 1 अिुबर, 2027 को और उसके
पश्चात,् उन उप-जनयमों के अधीन जनधागरण या मूल्यांकन के जलए लागू मानक समय-समय पर संिोजधत एआईएस-197
(पुनरीक्षण 1) के अनुसार होंग े।”
3.उि जनयमों के, प्ररूप 70क में, 1 अिुबर, 2027 को या उसके पश्चात् “एआईएस-197”अक्षरों और अंकों के स्ट्थान पर,
“एआईएस-197 (पुनरीक्षण 1)”अक्षर, अंक, िब्ि और कोष्ठक रखे िाएंगे ।

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 19th June, 2026
G.S.R. 540(E).— Whereas, the draft rules further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 were
published, as required under sub-section (1) of section 212 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988), vide
notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways vide number G.S.R. 27 (E),
dated the 20th March, 2026, in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), inviting objections
and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby before the expiry of the period of thirty days from the date
of which copies of the Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public;
And whereas copies of the said Gazette notification were made available to the public on the 24th March, 2026;
And whereas no objections and suggestions have been received from the public in respect of the said draft rules.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 110 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988),
the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989,
namely: -
1. Short title and commencement- (1) These rules may be called as the Central Motor Vehicles (Tenth
Amendment) Rules, 2026.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 (hereinafter referred as the said rules), in rule 126E, after sub-rule (9),
the following sub-rule shall be inserted, namely: -
“(10) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-rules (2), (4) and (7) above, on and after the 1st day of October, 2027,
the applicable standard for the assessment or evaluation under those sub-rules shall be as per AIS-197 (Revision 1), as
amended from time to time.”
3. In the said rules, in Form 70A, on and after the 1st day of October, 2027, for the letters and figures "AIS-197",
the letters, figures, word and brackets “AIS-197 (Revision 1)" shall be substituted.
