The specific procedures for land acquisition will be governed by the National Highways Act, 1956. Further details on procedures, compensation, and grievance redressal mechanisms would be outlined in subsequent communications or notices related to the land acquisition process.
**8. Expected Outcomes / Impact of Changes:**
The likely intended outcomes and impacts include:
* **Expedited Land Acquisition:** The formal designation of a competent authority is expected to streamline and accelerate the land acquisition process for the NH6 project.
* **Improved Infrastructure:** The completion of the building, widening, maintenance, management and operation works on NH6 will improve transportation infrastructure in Meghalaya, potentially leading to economic benefits and improved connectivity.
* **Potential Displacement and Resettlement:** Land acquisition may result in displacement and resettlement of affected populations. Proper compensation and rehabilitation measures will be crucial to mitigate negative impacts.
**9. Conclusion:**
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Notification S.O. 5910(E) represents a crucial step towards facilitating the NH6 project in Meghalaya.
