The Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of
Persons with Disabilities (CRC), Nagpur, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with
Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, organised “Purple Fair 2026”
in collaboration with the District Office for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Akola.
The event, held at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Social Justice Bhavan Auditorium, witnessed active
participation. Ms Anita Meshram (IAS), Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Akola, was the
chief guest. Dr Tushar Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner, Divyangjan Empowerment, Akola, along
with representatives of Divyangjan organisations and Shri Prafull Shinde, Director, CRC Nagpur,
were present.
Students from various special schools presented cultural programmes, including dance and
drama. Participating institutions included Government School for the Deaf, Kannubhai Vora Blind
School and other special schools from Akola.Services such as aids and appliances assessment, UDID registration, Niramaya Yojana
enrolment and information stalls by government departments received a good response.
A large number of beneficiaries availed services under various schemes. The fair served as an
effective platform for awareness, inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
