As of November 28th, 2025, the Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare released data showing the progress of area coverage under rabi crops. Rabi crop sowing crosses 393 Lakh Hectares, with wheat recording the highest growth at 16.91%. Area coverage under pulses is 87.01 lakh ha. Shri Anna & Coarse Cereals is 29.06 lakh ha (compared to 26.58 lakh ha last year) and Oilseeds crosses 80.53 Lakh Hectares.
A breakdown in lakh hectares is as follows:
Wheat area sown is 187.37 (Normal 312.35), Rice area sown is 9.10 (Normal 42.93), Pulses area sown is 87.01 (Normal 140.42), Shri Anna & Coarse cereals area sown is 29.06 (Normal 55.33), Oilseeds area sown is 80.53 (Normal 86.78).
