Nagpur : 21 September 2026 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conducted a Field-Level Super Outreach Financial Literacy Programme for 650 women police cadets and 50 faculty members at Police Training Centre, Nagpur with the objective of promoting awareness on critical financial issues among the women police cadets undergoing training.
The programme was presided over by Smt. Sonali Sen Gupta, Executive Director, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) along with Shri Sachin Y. Shende, Regional Director, RBI, Nagpur in the presence of Ms. Rina Janbandhu, Superintendent of Police and Principal, Police Training Center (PTC), Smt. Anjana Shyamnath, DGM, RBI, Shri Sachin Sharma, DGM, RBI and Shri Prashant Kulkarni, Vice Principal PTC.Smt. Sonali Sen Gupta, in her keynote address, commended the cadets for their commitment and meaningful contributions towards society. She highlighted the significant role played by the cadets as ambassadors of financial literacy, particularly in promoting greater awareness and understanding of financial concepts among diverse sections of the community. She emphasized that financial literacy is not merely a personal asset for police cadets but an indispensable professional competency that empowers them to serve with integrity, resilience, and foresight.
She underscored the importance of cultivating sound financial habits, robust knowledge, and practical skills as foundational tools for making informed, responsible, and impactful decisions both on and off duty.Shri Sachin Y. Shende, in his inaugural address, highlighted the crucial role of women’s empowerment as a cornerstone of inclusive and sustainable national development. In the context of the rapidly evolving digital financial ecosystem, he drew particular attention to the growing incidence of digital fraud and cybercrimes, underscoring the need for heightened awareness, vigilance, and safe digital financial practices.
A Marathi Nukkad Natak (a street play) instilled the essential financial knowledge in an easy-to-understand manner in the women cadets.
The collaborative efforts of RBI, Nagpur with PTC, Nagpur ensured engaging, informative, and impactful sessions, for conducting the financial literacy programme for the third consecutive batch of women police cadets at PTC. RBI, Nagpur, as a part of its institutionalized special super outreach initiative, conducts programme every year for the women police cadets, who will soon be deployed in field across the Maharashtra state. During the sessions the cadets were introduced to RBI Retail Direct, RBIOS, DICGC cover, cyber security in banking transactions and security features of currency notes.
