The Regional Centre for Organic and Natural Farming (RCONF), Nagpur, under the
Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has organized a 21-day
Certificate Course and Workshop on Natural Farming at Nagpur Veterinary College in
association with Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU),
Nagpur. This training was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of MAFSU, Dr. Nitin
Patil, in the presence of Dr. A. S. Rajput, Regional Director, RCONF, Nagpur.
The training programme is being conducted from February 17 to March 9, 2026. A
total of 30 farmers from Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh are
participating in the workshop.The programme aims to provide comprehensive
theoretical knowledge and practical training on the principles of natural farming.
Participants are being trained in the production of bio-fertilizers and seed
treatments, indigenous cow-based farming practices, natural pest and disease
management techniques, value addition, and certification processes for natural
farming products.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Nitin Patil emphasized that natural farming is the
need of the hour, highlighting its importance in improving soil health, reducing
production costs, and ensuring environmental sustainability. Dr. A. S. Rajput
elaborated on the scientific principles of natural farming and discussed opportunities
in the production, value addition, and marketing of natural agricultural products.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Dr. Shirish Upadhye, Director
(Instructions) and Dean of the University; Dr. Nitin Kurkure, Director of Research;
Dr. Sachin Bonde, Director of Extension Education; and Dr. Jayant Korde, Associate
Dean of Nagpur Veterinary College.Dr. Anil Shukla from RCONF, Nagpur, and Dr.
Suresh Jadhao of Nagpur Veterinary College are serving as coordinators of the
workshop. The inaugural programme was conducted by Dr. Atul Dhok, and the vote
of thanks was delivered by Dr. Priya Gawande. Dr. Swapnil Magar, Junior Scientific
Officer; Dr. Sachin Kumar Vaid; and Shri Sushil Talmale were also present on the
