Ambedkar National Award for outstanding contribution to the promotion of Social Understanding and for the upliftment of weaker sections in India. As provided under Section VI of the Code of Procedure for the Award, the Government of India have constituted the Jury consisting of :- (a) The Vice President of India (Ex-officio) Chairperson (b) Chief Justice of India (Ex-officio) Vice-Chairperson (c) Shri Uday Mahurkar, Central Information Commissioner Member (An eminent journalist) (d) Prof M Jagdeesh Kumar, Chairman UGC Member (An eminent educationist)[भाग I—खण् ड 1] भारत का रािपत्र : असाधारण 3 (e) Dr. Dnyaneshwar Manohar Mulay, Member NHRC Member (An eminent persons from public life in India) (f) Prof TV Kattimani, Vice Chancellor Central Tribal University AP Member (An eminent persons from public life in India) (g) Shri Milind Kamble, DICCI, Member (Worked for the upliftment of weaker sections) (h) Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment (Ex-officio) Member Secretary 2. The terms of reference for the Jury are to :- (a) Selection of the Women, Man and Institution/organization or group of Women, Man and Institution/organization who shall be given the National Award each of Rs. 10 Lakhs for outstanding contribution to the promotion of Social Understanding and for the upliftment of the weaker sections in India. (b) Consider to confer three Awards one each under the categories of Women, Man and Institution/Organization of Rs. 10 lakhs each or jointly to be shared by more than one recipient or organization, if they are, in the opinion of the Jury, to be equally deserving of recognition in the year. (c) Consider only the contributions made by the Women, Man and Institution/organizations within the period of last ten years, immediately preceding the nominations. However, the earlier contributions may also be considered if its significance has been of abiding nature. (d) Select the Awardee, as per the provisions prescribed in the enclosed scheme of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Award instituted by the Government, and as amended from time to time. 3. The terms of the Jury other than the Ex-Officio Chairperson and Vice Chairperson shall be for a period of three years from the date of its constitution. 4. For TA/DA, etc. the non-official members of the Jury will be covered by the provisions contained in the Ministry of Finance O.M.
