Regarding demand for independent Papaya Processing Park
in Nandurbar
ADV. GOWAAL KAGADA PADAVI (NANDURBAR): Honorable
Chairperson Madam, thank you. My parliamentary constituency of
Nandurbar is recognized as the number one district in the entire
state of Maharashtra for papaya production. However, despite such
large-scale production, farmers still do not receive fair prices for
their produce. Through you, I would like to urge the Central
Government to establish an independent 'Papaya processing Park'
in my Nandurbar constituency. This park should be equipped with
facilities for papaya grading, washing, packaging, and storage.
Furthermore, Nandurbar should be included under the 'One Nation,
One Product' scheme to garner both national and international
recognition. Financial assistance should be extended to
papaya-growing farmers through initiatives such as the PM Kisan
Sampada Scheme, the Mega Food Park Scheme, and APEDA.
Additionally, a skill development and training center should be
established for tribal youth?both young men and women?to
generate local employment opportunities. Cold storage facilities
and logistics centers should also be set up within the district. Hon.
Madam, if this Papaya Park is established, it will benefit thousands
of farmers; their incomes will double, they will receive fair
remuneration for their produce, and their agricultural produce will
no longer go to waste. Moreover, market control will no longer
remain solely in the hands of traders, and the Papaya Park will
accord Nandurbar recognition on a national level. Therefore, I
appeal to the Central Government to grant approval for this project
and make the necessary financial provisions. Thank you.
