Regarding health issues arising out of fly ash & red mud pollution from NALCO plant in Damanjodi SHRI SAPTAGIRI SANKAR ULAKA (KORAPUT): Thank you Speaker Sir for giving me the opportunity to speak in Odia. There is a village named Denga Janiguda near Mujan panchayat in Dasmanthapur block. This village is in close proximity to the Nalco plant of Damanjodi. The fly ash and red mud pond in the vicinity is creating havoc in the lives of the villagers. There are multiple health issues like blindness, skin diseases, oral cancer etc. Sir I had visited the village and saw how their life and livelihood are affected. Farmers are losing their livestocks and agricultural lands are becoming infertile. people of another village named Champapadar in the neighborhood have been given alternative dwelling place. Why the people of Denga janiguda can't be relocated to a better place? They need urgent rehabilitation and Nalco can start by giving job to at least one person from each affected family. I want the Minister of Mines to take immediate steps to give justice to the people of the village who are suffering because of Nalco.
