Regarding matters pertaining to NDRF relief for hailstorm
related crop damage , loan waiver, onion export subsidy
,lifting of diesel ban and NCAP fund irregularities in Solapur
SUSHRI PRANITI SUSHILKUMAR SHINDE (SOLAPUR): Hon.
Chairperson Madam, yesterday, my
constituency?Solapur?witnessed massive hailstorms, resulting in
extensive damage to agricultural crops. Specifically, crops such as
grapes, pomegranates, bananas, chickpeas, guavas, onions,
melons, and roses suffered severe losses. However, damage
assessment surveys (panchnamas) have not yet been conducted
in Solapur. Given the magnitude of the losses incurred by the
farmers in that region, it is imperative that relief assistance be
provided through the NDRF. I, therefore, demand that all farmers
who have suffered losses be granted an immediate and blanket
loan waiver, as the scale of the damage they have sustained is
immense. As the saying goes, "it is like adding a thirteenth month
to a drought"?compounding an already dire situation. Whether it be
food grains, pomegranates, or onion crops, the farmers' produce is
currently stranded?metaphorically "stuck in the Strait of Hormuz."
Traders are refusing to purchase the produce from the farmers.
Consequently, the farmers of my Maharashtra find themselves in
the midst of a grave crisis. As Shobha Tai just mentioned, the
government has halted the export of onions; therefore, I demand
(cid:110)
that a subsidy of 1,000 per quintal be granted for onions.
Furthermore, just yesterday, the District Collector issued an
administrative order prohibiting farmers from purchasing diesel in
barrels for use in their tractors; I demand that this ban be lifted.
Finally, I wish to draw the government's attention to the significant
irregularities observed in the utilization of NCAP funds in Solapur,
and I demand that the government look into this matter as well.
Thank you!
