Regarding need for a special and alternative mechanism to conduct CBSE Board exam in Ladakh to address winter and terrain related difficulties faced by students in the region-Laid SHRI MOHMAD HANEEFA (LADAKH): I wish to draw the attention of the Government to the difficulties faced by students of the Union Territory of Ladakh during the conduct of CBSE Board Examinations. At present, CBSE Board Examinations are generally held during February?March, which coincides with the peak winter season in Ladakh. During this period, the region experiences extremely low temperatures, heavy snowfall and frequent disruption of road connectivity. Many villages, particularly in remote and avalanche-prone areas, remain cut off for days due to snow accumulation and adverse weather conditions. As a result, students appearing for board examinations often have to travel long distances through hazardous terrain and severe weather to reach their examination centres. This situation causes significant hardship, anxiety and risk to the safety of students, besides affecting their ability to appear for examinations in a fair and stress-free environment. Considering the unique geographical and climatic conditions of Ladakh, there is a genuine need for a special mechanism or alternative examination schedule that takes into account the extreme winter conditions in the region. Appropriate steps in this regard would help ensure safe access to examination centres and facilitate uninterrupted academic assessment for students in this high-altitude and weather-vulnerable region.
