Regarding need for calculated measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG across the country-Laid SHRI M. K. RAGHAVAN (KOZHIKODE): I wish to draw the attention of the Government to the growing concern regarding the supply and pricing of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the country in the backdrop of the escalating conflict in West Asia. The developments in the region have created serious uncertainties in global energy markets and have the potential to disrupt supply chains that are crucial for countries like India which depend significantly on energy imports. India imports a substantial share of its LPG requirements, and therefore any prolonged disruption in this critical maritime route could have a direct bearing on the availability and cost of cooking gas in our country. There are increasing apprehensions among consumers, small businesses and commercial establishments that continued geopolitical tensions may lead to supply constraints and price escalation in LPG. Cooking gas is an essential commodity used daily by millions of households across the country, and any increase in its price or disruption in supply would directly affect ordinary families, particularly those belonging to lower- and middle-income groups. Hence, I urge the Government to closely monitor the evolving situation and take all necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted availability of LPG across the country.
