Regarding need for construction of a subway on
Salem-Omalur Railway Line near Jagir Reddipatti in Salem
Parliamentary Constituency, Tamil Nadu- laid
SHRI T. M. SELVAGANAPATHI (SALEM): It has been a long
pending demand of the people of Arunthathiyar Colony, Chinna
Mottur, Near Jagir Ammapalayam, Salem for construction of a
subway, adjacent to a burial ground near Jagir Reddipatti, Salem in
between Salem-Omalur Railway line, Southern Railway. This issue
was taken up many times as the people of the area are facing very
hardship to cross the railway line for various purposes. Finally, it
was agreed by Railways to construct a subway near to the
demanded place and were trying to identify a suitable location for
the construction of the subway to redress the grievances of people
to cross to the other side of the railway track. However, the issue
has not moved further as it seems the Railways has not taken any
steps in this regard. This area comes under my Parliamentary
Constituency, Salem. Therefore, I urge upon the honourable
Minister of Railway to direct concerned to immediately construct a
subway at above place urgently, so that the problems being faced
by the people of the area can be resolved. I shall be highly grateful
if you could look into it and please make sure that the dream of the
people of the area comes true.
