Regarding need for upgradation of Palakkad Town Railway
Station in Kerala into a Terminal before commissioning of
Pitline Work Project therein-laid
SHRI V. K. SREEKANDAN (PALAKKAD): Palakkad Town
Railway Station is presently falls under a station category. The
ongoing work on PITLINE is going to be completed by May 2026.
Creation of one more PITLINE is also under active consideration.
Once the PITLINE is commissioned, long distance trains to many
parts of the country can commence and terminate from/at Palakkad
Town Railway Station. Apart from that, already approved train
services can also be commenced from there. All these going to
make a great impact on Palakkad Town Railway Station, requiring
expansion of it and upgrading it into a Terminal Station. The
completion of PITLINE work will also pave the way for the quicker
movement of goods trains as well. So, the expeditious action on
the part of railways to upgrade Palakkad Town Railway Station into
a Terminal is going to benefit Railways in a big way as far as the
earning of revenue is concerned. Therefore, I urge upon the
Government to direct the concerned to take action to upgrade
Palakkad Town Railway Station into a Terminal, before
commissioning the ongoing PITLINE work, so that no delay will be
occurred to carry out other works that are needed for making
Palakkad Town Railway Station a terminal.
