Regarding Need for urgent measures to ensure safe repatriation of Indians stranded in gulf countries and Iran-Laid PROF. SOUGATA RAY (DUM DUM): The disruption of flights to and from the Middle East due to ongoing tensions and airspace closures has caused serious problems for Indian passengers, especially students, workers and tourists. Several countries in West Asia have restricted or closed their airspace due to security concerns, forcing airlines to cancel or divert flights. This has affected major routes connecting India with countries like UAE, Iran, Qatar and Saudi Arabia and even impacted flights to Europe and North America that pass through the region. Indian students studying abroad, particularly in countries like Iran are facing major difficulties. Lakhs stranded due to flight cancellations, missing academic schedules, examination and facing visa related issues. Indian workers in Gulf also affected, as travel disruptions delay job joining, contract renewals and emergency visit to India. The sudden rise in airfares and limited availability of alternative routes have increased the financial burden on passengers. The situation also created anxiety among families in India concerned about the safety of their relatives abroad. I would request the Government to take immediate steps to ensure the safe return of stranded Indians and do the needful for the completion of courses of students who are studying in Gulf Countries.
