Regarding Need to establish modern waste management clusters in Bengaluru, Karnataka under Swachh Bharat Mission ? Urban 2.0-Laid SHRI P. C. MOHAN (BANGALORE CENTRAL): I would like to draw the attention of the Government to the waste management crisis in Bengaluru, one of India?s fastest-growing cities. The city generates over 5,500 metric tonnes of solid waste daily, of which a significant portion remains unsegregated, unscientifically dumped, or burnt, leading to severe environmental and public health concerns. Despite efforts by the local authorities, issues such as lack of decentralised waste processing, inadequate segregation at source, and limited waste-to-energy infrastructure persist. I urge the Hon?ble Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs to provide targeted support under the Swachh Bharat Mission?Urban 2.0 for modernising Bengaluru?s waste infrastructure; establish model decentralised waste management clusters with composting, MRFs, and bio-methanation; launch a national incentive framework for bulk waste generators; and encourage tech-driven waste tracking and enforcement systems in collaboration with startups. This is not just a civic issue, it is a crisis of urban sustainability. Strengthening waste management systems will reduce landfill dependence, lower methane emissions, create green jobs, and help cities like Bengaluru manage waste scientifically. I seek urgent intervention.
