Regarding need to issue Standard Operating Procedure to run coaching institutes in the country and take stringent action against the institutes charging exorbitant fees-Laid DR. GANAPATHY RAJKUMAR P. (COIMBATORE): In the contemporary and competitive world, education plays an important role to achieve one?s career to become a Doctor or Engineer for which the students and their parents are spending lot of money for coaching in a reputed institute. If a parent desires his child become a doctor in future, the child should join in a reputed coaching th institute from 9 std onwards for proper acquaintance with expected pattern of questions so as to securing top rank and crack NEET (UG) confidently in the NEET Exam so that the child should attain the dream of become a doctor in the society. There are several coaching institutes imparting coaching to appear for NEET (UG) and JEE across the country and varies widely in fees depends on offering programs for different durations i.e. 1year or 2 years by charging exorbitant fees from the students ranging from 1 lakh to 4 lakhs annually for offline/online courses from aspiring doctors and gaining admission to the nation?s most prestigious medical colleges. Further, even after paying the requisite fees to the coaching institutes, the aspiring students are subject to mental stress, pressure, harassment by the institute management by way of conducting classes at odd/long hours, tests/exam daily, daily homework and the students will not get enough time to take proper rest/sleep. Without proper sleep/rest, the students may subject to mental agony and psychological effect which leads to sometimes suicide also. There are so many students aspiring to become Doctors or Engineers committed suicide as reported in the print media across the country because of tortures by the coaching institutes. In view of the above, I urge upon the Union Government to take strict actions against such coaching institutes and not to charge coaching fee exorbitantly and don?t give much pressure on students to secure top ranks in the NEET(UG)/JEE exam to gain popularity of the institutes. Further, the Union Government must announce a SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) to run coaching institutes and follow the guidelines issued by the Government in respect of levy of coaching fees for the benefit of all students including poor and economically weaker students to get admission and proper coaching to become a Doctor/ Engineer in the society.
