Regarding Need to provide stoppage for Bhubaneswar -
Visakhapatnam Intercity Express or Brahmapur Express at
Sigadam Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh-Laid
SHRI APPALANAIDU KALISETTI (VIZIANAGARAM): I wish to
draw the attention of the Government to the long-pending demand
for an express train halt at Sigadam Railway Station in Srikakulam
district of Andhra Pradesh. Sigadam serves nearly 28 surrounding
villages within a 9?11 km radius, with an estimated 900?1000 daily
commuters travelling to Visakhapatnam, which is only 105 km
away. At present, except for an early morning passenger train,
there is no daytime express connectivity for nearly eight and a half
hours. One passenger service remains suspended since COVID
and has not been restored. Despite about 45 trains passing daily
on this important route, no major express halts at Sigadam. Senior
citizens, students, job-seeking youth, and women commuters are
facing severe hardship due to limited connectivity and poor bus
alternatives. I therefore urge the Hon?ble Minister of Railway to
kindly consider sanctioning a halt for the
Bhubaneswar?Visakhapatnam Intercity Express or Brahmapur
Express at Sigadam Railway Station in the interest of public
convenience and regional equity.
