Regarding need to restore glorious account of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in ICSE, State Education Boards, NCERT and CBSE text books-laid SHRI NILESH DNYANDEV LANKE (AHMEDNAGAR): There is an intense anger and discontentment in Maharashtra due to the extremely inadequate coverage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's history in the curriculum prescribed by ICSE, State Education Boards, NCERT and CBSE. A policy decision was adopted by the legislature during the tenure of the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra in 1991, mandating that the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj would never be excluded; that decision is now being violated. It is deeply distressing that in CBSE/NCERT textbooks ranging from Class 4 to Class 12, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is mentioned in merely 68 words?a fact that deprives future generations of knowledge regarding the glorious deeds of the Maharaj. Furthermore, the history and graph regarding the expansion of the Maratha Empire in the NCERT Class 8 textbook is also excluded. I humbly request the Union Education Minister to look into this serious matter immediately and ensure that a detailed, objective, and glorious account of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is reinstated in the history textbooks with due honour, and thereby uphold the dignity of Maharashtra's identity.
