Regarding need to set up a sub-centre of an Agricultural
University along with implementation of various projects
under Agricultural Schemes in Ahilyanagar district,
Maharashtra.-laid
SHRI NILESH DNYANDEV LANKE (AHMEDNAGAR): I wish to
draw the attention of the Government regarding the farmers in my
Parliamentary Constituency?specifically those residing in the
talukas of Nagar, Karjat, Jamkhed, Shrigonda, Parner, Pathardi,
and Shevgaon within the Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar) district?who
are primarily dependent on summer irrigation and dryland farming.
Considering the prevailing climatic conditions, soil texture, and the
persistent drought-like situation in this region, it is absolutely
essential to establish a sub-center of an Agricultural University that
can provide farmers with research support and modern technology
at the local level. Such a sub-center would enable farmers to
access up-to-date information, new technologies, and remedial
measures right within their own locality. Methods for achieving
higher yields with minimal water usage would be developed,
thereby boosting farmers' incomes and improving their economic
well-being. Furthermore, it would open up new avenues for the
local rural youth to engage in agricultural research. Ahilyanagar is
a district possessing immense potential for progress across the
sectors of youth empowerment, agriculture, and education.
However, the implementation of several crucial projects has been
stalled due to lack of coordination and convergence between the
Central and State Government schemes. I humbly request the
Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare to intervene directly
and expeditiously at the district level regarding this matter. I also
urge the Minister to take the necessary positive decision to
establish a sub-center of an Agricultural University in one of the
aforementioned talukas?namely Nagar, Karjat, Jamkhed,
Shrigonda, Parner, Pathardi, or Shevgaon?and to ensure its
prompt establishment.
