Regarding need to set up National Data Centres in Rajasthan- laid SHRI P. P. CHAUDHARY (PALI): I wish to draw the attention of the Government towards the requirement of establishing National Data Centres in Rajasthan. While India generates 20% of the world?s data, it has a mere 3% share in the world?s data centre capacity. Additionally, the storage capacity of data centres owned by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) is 9.2 MW. The storage capacity of such data centres is minuscule compared to the 499 MW capacity of data centres owned by private industries. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister, Digital India has transformed e-governance, making public services far more transparent and accessible. With the growing volumes of data generated for facilitating e-governance, there is a pressing need to establish more National Data Centres to store sensitive Government data. I urge the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to facilitate the establishment of National Data Centres in Rajasthan. The state having the highest installed capacity for solar energy, has the potential to meet electricity demand of these data centres through renewable sources. This uninterrupted supply of electricity, coupled with abundant availability of land and skilled labour makes Rajasthan the ideal destination for setting up new National Data Centres.
