Regarding need to undertake various railway related
issues/projects concerning Karur Parliamentary Constituency
in Tamil Nadu-laid
SUSHRI S. JOTHIMANI (KARUR): I wish to draw the attention of
the Hon. Minister of Railways to the urgent transportation needs of
my Parliamentary Constituency, Karur. Firstly, I request immediate
stoppages for the Sengottai-Mayiladuturai Express at Ayyalur, the
Palani Express at Palayam. At Manaparai, stoppages are
requested for the Tirupati-Rameswaram, Chennai-Kollam SF,
Tiruchendur-Chennai, and Madurai-Okha trains. Crucially, I urge
the Ministry to reopen Mandayur Railway Station in the Viralimalai
assembly. This station is vital for nearly 5,000 students and
professionals from Anna University, Bharathidasan University, IIM,
and nearby IT hubs. Furthermore, there is a long-standing demand
for a Day Train from Karur to Chennai and the introduction of a
Vande Bharat service on the Karur-Chennai route. I also request
the addition of First and Second AC coaches to the
Mangalore-Chennai Express (via Karur) to improve passenger
comfort. These measures will significantly boost regional
connectivity and support the student community. I urge the
Government to take prompt action on these requests.
