Regarding Railway related issues in Tamil Nadu-Laid
SHRI MURASOLI S. (THANJAVUR): The Survey of New Railway
Lines from Thanjavur ? Pudukkottai, Ariyalur ? Thanjavur ?
Pattukottai, Mannargudi ? Pattukottai for Railway Lines were
commissioned at the time of the British, more than 90 years back
and still hasn?t been taken up by the Railway Board. These lines
should be prioritized and should be commissioned at the earliest.
These Railway lines are crucial to this region and will connect all
major railway lines in a circular loop. This will also enable the
railways to provide more rail services to this region and to provide
freight services to the farmers in the delta region. These railway
lines should be commissioned at the earliest to ease the travel of
the people of the region. Also, Villupuram ? Thanjavur Section of
Main Line should be doubled as the line has already attained
saturation and is running at more than 100% of track capacity,
leading to numerous delays. Hence, the line should be doubled at
the earliest for the convenience of the passengers. Moreover, A
New Vande Bharat Train from Thanjavur Jn to Mysore should be
introduced to connect these two cultural and heritage cities and
cater to the increased demand of this rail route.
