Regarding release of Bandi Sikhs who have completed their sentence; demand for immediate release SHRI AMRINDER SINGH RAJA WARRING (LUDHIANA): Thanks Hon?ble Chairperson for permitting me to speak. Any person committing a crime in the country gets punishment in terms of provisions of the Constitution and such mandatory punishment is a good thing. But as per the same Constitution, a person completing the sentence should be released as per the law of the land but hundreds of people of Punjab having completed the sentence are not being released. Majority of them are Sikhs alongwith others, too, who are called ?Bandi Sikhs?. Release of such persons is being deliberately stayed even after they have completed the sentence. Some of such friends are sitting on a Dharna at Mohali for the past one and a half year. So, I demand that such persons, Bandi Sikhs or otherwise, should be released as soon as possible. Similarly, I have to submit that two MPs, particularly Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Ravneet Singh Bittu repeatedly meet the country?s Home Minister and get such release stopped. I demand the immediate release of the concerned persons who have completed their sentence.
