Regarding upgradation of Kohima Medical College to AIIMS or
Central Institute similar to RIMS Imphal
SHRI S. SUPONGMEREN JAMIR (NAGALAND): Hon. Madam in
the Chair, through you, I would like to request the upgradation of
the Kohima Medical College as a Central Institute. The Kohima
Medical College, which is the first-ever medical college in the
State, commenced in September 2023 with an intake of 100
students, and it requires further scope and development. Our
people in the State are facing difficulties in accessing adequate
health facilities. We have often had to go outside the State in order
to avail better healthcare services.
Therefore, through you, Madam, I would like to request that
the Kohima Medical College may kindly be upgraded into an AIIMS
or a Central Institute, on the lines of the Regional Institute of
Medical Sciences in Imphal. If the Kohima Medical College is
upgraded in this manner, it will be of great benefit.
