Regarding Water scarcity in drought-affected Bayaluseeme (plateau) districts of Karnataka DR. K. SUDHAKAR (CHIKKBALLAPUR): Hon?ble Speaker, Sir thank you for giving me the opportunity. I have been making efforts since 2007 to provide a permanent irrigation solution to the people and farmers of drought affected districts of Karnataka such as Chikkaballapur, Bangalore Rural and Kolar and other Bayaluseeme (Plateau) districts of Karnnataka. The previous BJP Government in Karnataka State had announced a plan to ensure tertiary (third-stage) treated water to the people. However, this initiative was cancelled by the present Government of Karnataka as it is discontinued many other projects. Several scientific studies have indicated that the adverse health among the people is caused by the water, which is treated only two stages. Therefore, I would like to propose three suggestions to consider in this regard. A scientific guidelines issued by the Union government should be implemented by the state government to ensure the water is treated at tertiary level (third-stage) before it is released. And, the Yettinahole project works should be expedited and completed at the earliest. The allocation of 15 TMC of water share from the river Krishna should be released to mitigate the water scarcity and save the precious lives of the people of these districts. Thanking you.
