Regrading need to ensure operationalizaton of Software
Technology Parks of India (STPI) Centre at Jeypore in Koraput
district, Odisha-Laid
SHRI SAPTAGIRI SANKAR ULAKA (KORAPUT): I would like to
bring to the notice of the Government a matter of urgent public
importance regarding the continued non-operationalization of the
Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facility at Jeypore in
Koraput district, Odisha. The STPI centre at Jeypore was formally
inaugurated on 29 January 2025 with the objective of promoting IT
and technology-driven enterprises in the tribal and aspirational
region of southern Odisha. The facility was expected to create
employment opportunities, encourage local startups, and reduce
distress migration by integrating the region into the digital
economy. However, despite the formal inauguration, the centre
remains non-functional. Unresolved infrastructural and
administrative issues, including power supply connectivity
challenges and pending design modifications, have delayed its
operationalization. The prolonged delay has caused
disappointment among local youth, entrepreneurs, and
stakeholders who had anticipated immediate opportunities. Koraput
district, owing to its geographical remoteness and economic
backwardness, requires focused institutional support to bridge the
digital divide. The continued inaction defeats the very purpose of
establishing the STPI facility and risks eroding public confidence in
developmental initiatives. Urge the Government to expedite
resolution of all pending infrastructural and administrative
bottlenecks, particularly those related to power connectivity and
design approvals and provide a clear timeline for making the STPI
Jeypore facility fully operational.
