Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

Policy Summary: Selection Methodology under Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (DDKY)

Overview On July 21, 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, through a written reply in the Lok Sabha by Minister of State Shri Ramnath Thakur, outlined the selection methodology for the 100 districts covered under the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (DDKY). The initiative aims to foster agricultural growth and ensure balanced regional development in areas with the greatest need.

Selection Criteria and Indicators The selection of the 100 districts was based on published public domain data focused on three primary performance indicators:

  • Low agricultural productivity.
  • Low cropping intensity.
  • Lower levels of agriculture credit disbursement.

State Allocation and Coverage The distribution of districts among various States was determined by the net cropped area and the number of operational holdings. Key aspects of the allocation include:

  • Universal Coverage: Every State is included in the scheme, with a minimum of at least one district per State, ensuring no State is excluded.
  • State-Level Replication: States have the autonomy to identify additional districts requiring focused attention. They may replicate the DDKY framework and approach in these areas using their existing administrative mechanisms and available scheme resources.

Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Selection Methodology under Prime Minister Dhan-DhaanyaKrishiYojana प्रव तथ: 21 JUL 2026 6:03PM by PIB Delhi The 100 districts under Prime Minister Dhan-DhaanyaKrishiYojana (DDKY) have been selected based on three indicators of low productivity, low cropping intensity and less agriculture credit disbursement. The number of districts for each State is based on net cropped area and number of operational holdings, ensuring balanced regional development and fostering agricultural growth where it is most needed. The methodology used published data, which is already in public domain, of above mentioned three indicators. Each State was covered under DDKY, with at least 1 district, based on net cropped area and number of operational holdings, hence question of exclusion does not arise. Further, if States identify additional districts that require similar focused attention, they may adopt and replicate the same framework and approach in those districts using their existing administrative mechanisms and available scheme resources. This information was given by Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ramnath Thakur in a written reply in Lok Sabha today. *** RC/MS/404 (रलीज़ आईडी: 2287249) आगंतुक पटल : 1050 इस वज्ञ को इन भाषाओ ंम पढ़: Urdu , ही
