COMPANY PROFILE: NTPC Limited was incorporated in 1975 under the companies act, 1956 with objective to develop and provide reliable power, related projects and services at competitive prices, integrating multiple energy sources with innovative and eco-friendly technologies and contribute to society. NTPC became a listed company in 2004, with majority holding of 89.50% with the Government of India which was further reduced from time to time. The Company has over the years, developed from a thermal power generator to an integrated power company with presence across entire energy value chain through backward and forward integration into areas such as coal mining power trading, distribution etc. On 19th May 2010, NTPC was granted the status of 'Maharatna' that resulted in enhanced autonomy in decision making. Its registered and corporate offices are at New Delhi. The company employed 16,689 regular employees (Executives: 12,319 and Non- executives: 4,370) as on 31.03.2025. The authorized and paid up capital of the Company was Rs. 16,600 crores and Rs. 9,696.7 crores respectively as on 31.03.2025. Government of India's equity in NTPC, stands at 51.10% as on 31.03.2025, the rest being held by Institutional Investors, public & others.ll. JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Chairman and Managing Director is the Chief Executive of the Corporation and is accountable to the Board of Directors and the Government. He/ She is responsible for the overall management and performance of the organization, including providing strategic direction, ensuring effective corporate governance, and overseeing the operations of the Corporation, its subsidiaries, and joint ventures. CMD shall lead the formulation and implementation of the Corporation’s long-term vision and strategy, ensure sustainable growth, and align organizational objectives with national priorities. The role also encompasses guiding expansion both organic and inorganic, across the power value chain, including generation, mining, renewables, nuclear, energy storage, green chemicals, and related areas, with the objective of delivering reliable, affordable, and sustainable power. lll. ELIGIBILITY: 1. QUALIFICATION: The applicant should be an Engineering Graduate/ Chartered Accountant/ Cost Accountant/ Post Graduate/ Graduate with MBA/PGDIM from a leading Institute. 4. EXPERIENCE: Applicant should possess cumulative experience/ exposure for at least 5 years during the last 10 years in Finance/ Business Development/ Production/ Operations/ Marketing/ Project Management in a large organization of repute. Experience in Power or Energy Sector is preferable. 5. (b) (i) Group 'A' officers of the Central Government including All India Services (AIS) and Autonomous Bodies etc. should be holding a post of the level of Additional Secretary in Govt. of India or carrying equivalent scale of pay on substantive basis on the date of application. IV. DURATION OF APPOINTMENT: The appointment shall be for a period of five years from the date of joining or upto the date of superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier. V.
