On November 6, 2023, Shri Manohar Lal, Hon'ble Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, released a Commemorative Coin of 50 Rupees in New Delhi to celebrate 50 years of NHPC. Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Ministry of Power, Government of India, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC and Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC were present on this occasion. NHPC is India's Premier Hydropower Navratna Company under the Ministry of Power, established on 7th November 2025. A comic book titled "Chhota Bheem aur Bada Bandh" was also released. NHPC has executed hydropower projects and is diversifying into solar, wind, and green hydrogen. Shri Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs released a
Commemorative Coin of 50 Rupees to commemorate 50 years of NHPC at New Delhi on 6th
November 2025 in the presence of Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Ministry of Power,
Government of India, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC and Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel),
NHPC. NHPC Limited, India’s Premier Hydropower Navratna Company under the Ministry of
Power, is marking a momentous milestone- completing 50 years of its establishment on 7th November
2025.

While congratulating NHPC Limited on this occasion, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Housing
and Urban Affairs said that the release of Commemorative Coin by Government of India is a
recognition of NHPC's enduring legacy and its strategic contribution to India's energy self-reliance.
This Commemorative Coin honours its remarkable journey of resilience, innovation and service to the
nation.Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs also released a special publication, a
comic book titled "Chhota Bheem aur Bada Bandh" which has been created based on 'Chhota Bheem'
and his supporting characters, with the aim of conveying the message of importance and benefits of
hydropower to the children and the general public through engaging storytelling and vibrant
illustrations.
At this historic moment, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the
Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs for his valuable guidance and support.
He also thanked Ministry of Power for their continuous cooperation & guidance. He further said that
the Government of India’s release of a Commemorative ₹50 Coin on the occasion of NHPC’s Golden
Jubilee stands as a tribute to the organization’s illustrious journey and its pivotal contribution towards
achieving the nation’s energy self-reliance. This landmark initiative not only recognizes NHPC’s
exceptional accomplishments but also serves as a lasting source of inspiration for continued
excellence in the years to come.
Over the past five decades, NHPC has executed landmark hydropower projects in some of the most
challenging terrains, while also diversifying into solar, wind and green hydrogen, reinforcing its status
as a 100% Green Energy Company. With an installed capacity of over 8333 MW from 30 Power
Stations and an additional 14 projects of over 9704 MW combined capacity under construction,
NHPC continues to play a vital role in strengthening India’s energy security and advancing the
nation’s transition towards clean and green power.
