The energy consumption standards for star labelled electric ceiling type fans, namely:- I. Every electric ceiling type fans operated by induction motors and Brushless Electric Motors of all the standard sweep sizes covered under the scope of IS 374: 2019 as amended from time to time that work on single phase alternating current supply up to and including 250V, 50Hz, being manufactured, commercially purchased, imported or sold in India shall,- (a) meet the safety requirements provided under paragraph 9 of Indian Standard 374:2019 as amended from time to time and amendments referring to paragraph 8 to 32 of Indian Standard 302(Part 2/Sec 80) as amended from time to time; (b) meet all the performance requirements as specified in Indian Standard 374:2019 as amended from time to time; (c) either carry Bureau of India Standards certification mark or the manufacturer is certified as per IS/ISO 9000 or above.6 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3(ii)] II. Star rating or star level plan.- (1) The label to be affixed on each electric ceiling type fan shall display a maximum of five stars with an interval of one star and the fan shall be rated for its performance from star one to star five based on its service value. (2) Every electric ceiling type fan shall refer to energy consumption standards which meet the performance requirements as laid down in sub-clause (a) of clause I of sub paragraph A. (5) The star level plan shall be reviewed before the expiry of the period provided under Table 3.1, Table 3.2 and Table 3.3. III. Testing and tolerance.- (1) For the purpose of determining the star level, the electric ceiling type fans shall be tested as per the standards given in Table 4.1 shall be used, namely:- Table 4.1 S. (3) There shall be no negative tolerance for the star rating levels. (4) The scope for manufacturing tolerance and other variations shall be accounted by the manufacturer while determining the star rating keeping in view the following points for rounding off,- (a) the values of power consumption (Watts), air delivery (cu m/min), service value (cu m/min/W) shall be rounded off to nearest whole number up to one decimal places; (b) all the values shall be rounded off to respective significant figures, as per Indian Standard 2:1960 as amended from time to time; (5) The tolerance limits for power factor and fan speed shall be as per sub-paragraph 15.2 of IS 374: 2019 as amended from time to time and the tolerance on power input shall be as per sub-paragraph 10.1 of IS 302-2-80 as amended from time to time. IV. Test report.–The results of the sample tested shall be reported on the provided format given in Annexure A. B. The electric ceiling type fans up to and including 250V, 50Hz for household and similar purposes with all sweep sizes from 600 mm and up to and including 1500 mm and direct that any such appliances or class of appliances being manufactured or sold or purchased or imported for sale shall display particulars on labels in such manner as specified in the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Particulars and Manner of their Display on Labels of Electric Ceiling Type Fans) Regulations, 2022. 2. (1) For the purposes of this notification, the expressions,– (a) ―air delivery‖ is the quantity of air delivered in a given time under specified conditions. It is expressed in cubic meters per minute; (b) ―electric ceiling type fan‖ means a propeller-bladed fan, having two or more blades, driven by an electric motor and provided with a device for suspension from the ceiling of a room so that blades rotate in a horizontal plane; (c) ―rated air delivery‖ is the air delivery of the fan assigned by the manufacturer; (d) ―rated power input‖ is the power input assigned to the fan by the manufacturer and marked on it and it is expressed in Watts; (e) ―service value‖ means the air delivery in cubic meters per minute divided by the electrical power input to the fan in watts at the voltage and frequency specified for the test. (2) The words and expressions used herein and not defined, but defined in Act shall have meanings respectively assigned to them in the Act. [F. No. 10/1/2021-EC] AJAY TEWARI, Addl.
