As of December 30, 2025, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) reports that under the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme, notified on September 29, 2024, with an outlay of Rs. 10,900 crore, a total of 21.24 lakh electric vehicles (EVs) have been sold. The aggressive targets for the e-3Ws (L5) segment have been met (2.88 lakh units), leading to the closure of incentivization for this segment on December 26, 2025. EV penetration in the e-3Ws (L5) segment is estimated at 32%. The breakdown of EVs sold under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme as of December 30, 2025, is as follows:
* e-2W: 18,40,007 units sold against a target of 24,79,120 units (74% share), with 19 OEMs registered under the scheme.
* e-rickshaw & e-cart: 5,267 units sold against a target of 39,034 units (13% share), with 5 OEMs registered under the scheme.
* e-3W (L5): 2,88,508 units sold against a target of 2,88,809 units (100% share), with 15 OEMs registered under the scheme.
The total units sold for the above categories is 21,23,782, representing 76% of the total target. The incentive for e-2Ws and e-rickshaws/e-carts will continue until March 31, 2026.

The PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme was
notified on 29.09.2024 with an outlay of Rs.10,900 crore.
2. The aggressive targets set by the MHI for the e-3Ws (L5) segment have been met ( 2.88 lac units )
ahead of time and the incentivization under the scheme for e-3Ws (L5) has been closed post 26/12/2025.
3. EV penetration within the e-3Ws (L5) segment is now estimated at ~32%, aligning perfectly with the
government’s vision to establish a self-sustaining ecosystem.
4. As on 30/12/2025, a total of 21.24 lakh EVs have been sold under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme as detailed
below:

5. Currently, e-2Ws have seen sales of 18,40,007 units against a target of nearly 24.79 lakh units. The
incentive for e-2Ws and e-rickshaws/ e-carts under the Scheme shall continue up to 31/03/2026.
