The Central Govt, in consultation with the Administration of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, hereby notifies the species of animals, which are on the verge of extinction, as listed in column (2) of the Table below.

This notification, S.O. 1162(E), issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on April 29, 2015, designates specific animal species as being on the verge of extinction within the Administration of Daman Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli. This action is taken in accordance with Section 38 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 (18 of 2003), following consultation with the Administration of Daman Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

The policy prohibits the collection of the listed species, except with the explicit approval of the Administration of the Daman Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli, and only for the purposes of: scientific research; herbarium and museum collections of scientific and academic institutions; propagation; and any other scientific investigation.
The Administration of the Daman Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli is mandated to undertake the following actions: conduct studies on all aspects of the notified species; propagate the notified species for in situ and ex situ conservation and rehabilitation; and implement awareness programs and provide educational materials on notified species for forest department personnel, Biodiversity Management Committees, ecotourism programs, forest dwellers, and tribal communities.
