NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 1st October, 2025
S.O. 4500(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 4 and Section 5A of the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 (59 of 1960), the Central Government hereby amends the notification S.O.
2222(E) dated 15th May, 2023 published in Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section-3, Sub-section (ii) by the
Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying with immediate effect from the date of publication, namely:-
(1) The Central Government hereby nominates Dr. Muthukumarasamy B., Joint Secretary, Department of
Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying as Chairman of the
Board from the date of the notification for the remaining period or till further orders, whichever is earlier,
under Sub-Section 3 of Section 5 of the said Act, consequent upon the acceptance of the resignation,
rendered by Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Department of Animal Husbandry and
Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, by the competent authority under the
provisions of Rule 5 (2) and (3) of the Animal Welfare Board (Administration) Rules, 1962.
