The emergence of Covid 19 pandemic led to an unprecedented situation in the country and also led to severe disruption in many processes critical for setting up the retail outlets
This resolution, issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, modifies Resolution No. P120291122018OMCPNG dated 08th November, 2019. The original resolution aimed to increase private sector participation in fuel dispensing, encourage alternate fuels, expand the retail network in remote areas, and improve customer service. Due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has amended the resolution. Specifically, the time period for setting up remote area Retail Outlets (ROs) under past remote area obligations, as outlined in subclause ii of clause 9.1, has been extended from two years to two years and six months. This extension applies to entities authorized to market transportation fuels under guidelines issued via Gazette Notifications dated 8.3.2002 and 10.8.2015. All other provisions of the original resolution remain unchanged. The amendment, authorized under clause 13.3 of the original resolution, takes effect immediately and will remain in force until further orders. The issuing authority is Dr. Navneet Mohan Kothari, Jt. Secy.
