THE KARNATAKA LEGISLATURE SALARIES, PENSIONS AND ALLOWANCES
(AMENDMENT) ACT, 2025
(Received the assent of the Governor on the 3rd day of April, 2025)
An Act further to amend the Karnataka Legislature Salaries, Pensions and
Allowances Act, 1956.
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Karnataka Legislature Salaries,
Pensions and Allowances Act, 1956 (Karnataka Act 2 of 1957) for the purposes
hereinafter appearing;
Be it enacted by the Karnataka State Legislature in the Seventy sixth year of
the Republic of India, as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Karnataka
Legislature Salaries, Pensions and Allowances (Amendment) Act, 2025.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment of section 3.- In the Karnataka Legislature Salaries,
Pensions and Allowances Act, 1956 (Karnataka Act 2 of 1957), (hereinafter referred
to as the Principal Act), in section 3,-
(i) in sub-section (1), for the words " seventy five thousand rupees", the
words "one lakh twenty five thousand rupees" and for the words "four
lakhs rupees", the words "five lakh rupees" shall respectively be
substituted;
(ii) in sub-section (2), for the words " seventy five thousand rupees", the
words "one lakh twenty five thousand rupees rupees" and for the words
"four lakhs rupees", the words "five lakh rupees" shall respectively be
substituted.
3. Amendment of section 4. - In section 4 of the Principal Act,-
(i) in sub-section (1), for the words "one lakh sixty thousand rupees", the
words "two lakh fifty thousand rupees" shall be substituted ; and
(ii) in sub-section (2), for the words "twenty thousand rupees", the words
"twenty five thousand rupees" shall be substituted.
4. Amendment of section 8.- In section 8 of the Principal Act, in sub-section
(2), in clause (d), in first proviso, for the words “three thousand five hundred rupees
and seven thousand rupees” the words “five thousand rupees and ten thousand
rupees” shall be substituted.
5. Amendment of section 10.- In section 10 of the Principal Act, in sub-
section (1), for the words " sixty thousand rupees", the words "eighty thousand
rupees" shall be substituted;
6. Amendment of section 10E.- In section 10E of the Principal Act, for the
words "sixty thousand rupees", the words "eighty thousand rupees" shall be
substituted.
7. Amendment of section 10J.- In section 10J of the Principal Act, for the
words "fifty thousand rupees", the words "seventy thousand rupees" shall be
substituted.3
8. Amendment of section 10K.- In section 10K of the Principal Act, for the
words "fifty thousand rupees", the words "seventy thousand rupees" shall be
substituted.
9. Amendment of section 11.- In section 11 of the Principal Act, in sub-
section (1), for the words "forty thousand rupees", the words "eighty thousand
rupees" shall be substituted.
10. Amendment of section 11A.- In section 11A of the Principal Act,-
(i) in sub-section (1),-
(a) for the words, brackets and figures “the Karnataka Legislature
Salaries, Pensions and Allowances (Amendment) Act, 2009", the
words, brackets and figures " the Karnataka Legislature Salaries,
Pensions and Allowances (Amendment) Act, 2025" shall be
substituted;
(b) for the words "fifty thousand rupees", the words "seventy five thousand
rupees" shall be substituted; and
(c) in the eighth proviso, for the words “rupees five thousand” and “rupees
one lakh” the words “rupees twenty thousand” and “ rupees one lakh
fifty thousand” shall respectively be substituted.
(ii) in sub-section (5), in clause (ii) for the words "one lakh rupees", the words
"two lakh rupees" shall be substituted.
11. Amendment of section 11C.- In section 11C of the Principal Act,-
(i) in sub-section (1), for the words “two lakhs fifty thousand rupees",
the words "three lakh rupees" shall be substituted.
(ii) in sub-section (2), for the words "two lakhs fifty thousand rupees ",
the words “three lakh rupees " shall be substituted.
12. Omission of section 11D.- Section 11D of the Principal Act shall be
omitted.
13. Amendment of section 12.- In section 12 of the Principal Act,-
(i) in clause (c),-
(a) in sub-clause(iii) for the words “five thousand rupees” the words
“twenty thousand rupees” shall be substituted.
(b) in sub-clause(iv) for the words “rupees two thousand five hundred”
the words “rupees ten thousand” shall be substituted.4
(ii) in clause (cc) for the words “sixty thousand rupees” the words “eighty
thousand rupees” shall be substituted.
(iii) in clause (ccc) for the words “two lakh fifty thousand rupees” the words
“three lakh fifty thousand rupees” shall be substituted.
(iv) for clause (h), the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“(i) one lakh ten thousand rupees per month towards meeting the
expenditure incurred by him on telephone and cell phone calls,
constituency allowances and postal charges;
(ii) twenty five thousand rupees as the salary of the personal Assistant
and the Room Boy of the Member in the discharge of his duties as a
member.”
