Legal Education Committee meeting held
on 27th May, 2015
This recommendation of Legal Education Committee approved by the General Council meeting
dated 6th June 2015 vide Resolution No. 97/2015
No. BCI : D : 3840/15.—The Legal Education Committee at its meeting held on 27th May, 2015 has decided
to amend the Legal Education Rules-2008 in Schedule IV under the heading “Inspection and other fees”, Clause (iii)
with explanation 3 by following resolution:
“The Committee finds that large number of institution/colleges for law courses are working even with
two rooms and minimum infrastructure having very weak financial set up. In some cases, even
minimum financial amount in the bank is being faltered. In order to have best of such colleges for law
courses also with rising prices, the security amount which is fixed for the new colleges are too low.
The Committee recommends it should be raised to Rs. 5,00,000/- for each such new colleges seeking
approval of the Bar Council of India.”
Therefore Schedule IV under the heading “Inspection and other fees”, Clause (iii) with explanation 3 of the
Legal Education Rules-2008 is hereby amended as follows:
(iii) Guarantee for fulfilling all the Rupees.......... Five Lakhs norms of the Bar Council of India

3. Whenever approval of affiliation is granted to the Centres of Legal Education, it shall be necessary for the
Centres of Legal Education to deposit Rupees Five Lakhs in shape of guarantee to fulfill all the norms of the
Bar Council of India. The same shall be liable to be forfeited if norms are not complied with and same shall
carry no interest.
