MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, CHENNAI NOTICE OF ELECTION Notice of election of one Professor to the Senate of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai by the Teachers of all Affiliated Dental Colleges from among themselves under Section 18(3) (b) of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, Act 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987). Notice is hereby given that an election by postal voting is to be held for electing one Professor to the Senate of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, as per clause (b) of sub-section (3) of Section 18 of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, Act 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987) by the Teachers of all Affiliated Dental Colleges from among themselves. The term of membership in the regular vacancy will be for a period of three years from the date of election or upto the date on which he/she ceases to hold the post of Professor of an Affiliated Dental Colleges, whichever is earlier. 2) Forms of Nomination papers may be obtained from the office of the undersigned from 11.06.2025 to 23.06.2025 between 11.00 a.m and 4.00 p.m. (on all working days). 3) Nomination papers duly filled in shall be submitted in an envelope addressed to the Registrar / Returning Officer and super scribed “Nomination for election to the Senate Under Section 18 (3) (b)” as indicated below, by Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due so as to receive by the Registrar / Returning Officer, not later than 4.00 p.m. on 23.06.2025 or to be delivered to the Returning Officer during office hours in person or by his/her proposer or by messenger under acknowledgement within the date and hour mentioned above. Medical University is on or before 3.00 p.m. on 30.06.2025. 7) List of final valid nominations will be published in the University premises at 5.30 p.m. on 30.06.2025. A copy of final valid nomination and the final list of voters will be dispatched to the candidates.June 11, 2025] TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE 27 8) A numbered declaration paper, a ballot paper with the name of the candidates bearing on it, the Returning Officer’s initials, a cover for sending Ballot Paper and an envelope containing the address of the Returning Officer will be sent to the address entered against the name of the voter in the final electoral roll through the Heads of the Institutions/College in which he/she is working, on or before 11.07.2025 (Friday). No ballot paper will be issued in the office to the voters on the day of election. The cover containing the ballot paper and the declaration form in the envelope to be sent by Registered Post, so as to reach the Registrar / Returning Officer not later than 4.00 p.m. on 28.07.2025. 9) The Voter may, either in person or by an agent, deposit the envelope addresses to the Returning Officer in the ballot box provided for the purpose at the office of the Returning Officer between till 4.00 p.m. on 28.07.2025 (Monday). 10) Scrutiny and counting of votes and declaration of results will be from 10.30 a.m. on 30.07.2025 (Wednesday) till the process is over. Note:- 1. The intimation of valid nominations would be sent to the candidates with a copy of the notification of the programme for the election containing last date of withdrawal and date of dispatching the ballot paper to the Returning Officer by post, etc. 2. If the number of candidates, who are validly nominated and who have not withdrawn their candidates in the manner prescribed and within the time specified, does not exceed or is less than the number of vacancies to be filled, such candidate shall be declared to be duly elected.
