Medical University, Chennai by the University Professors from among themselves (No. Elll(3)/27221/2024) No. VI-3(b)/21/2024. Notice is hereby given that an election by direct polling is to be held in the University premises for electing of One member to the Governing Council by the University Professors from among themselves to fillup the anticipating vacancy, as per clause (c) of sub-section (4) of Section 21 of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987). The term of membership in the Governing Council will be for a period of (03) three years from the date of publication of the results of the election (i.e.) 15.11.2024 (Friday) or the date on which he/she ceases to be the Member of this University. 2. Forms of Nomination may be obtained from the Registrar, who is the Returning Officer from 16.10.2024 to 28.10.2024 between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. (on all working days). 3.The filled-in Nomination paper may be sent through the enclosed envelope addressed to the Registrar/ Returning Officer and superscribed “Nomination for election to the Governing Council” as indicated below, and sent by Registered Post (Acknowledgement Due), so as to be received by the Registrar/ Returning Officer not later than 4.00 p.m. on 28.10.2024 (Monday) or delivered to the Returning Officer during office hours in person or by his / her proposer or by messenger under acknowledgement on or before the date and hour mentioned above. Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 4.15 p.m. on 28.10.2024 (Monday) 5. List of valid nominations will be published at 5.00 p.m. on 28.10.2024 (Monday) in the University premises. 6. A candidate may withdraw his/her candidature by notice in writing sent by Registered Post with acknowledgement one so as to reach the Returning Officer or delivered in person or by other person duly authorized by him/her under acknowledgement to the Returning officer not later than 3.00 p.m. on 04.11.2024 (Monday). List of final valid nominations will be published in the notice board of the University as well as in the University Website at 5.00 p.m. on 04.11.2024 (Monday). A copy of final list of valid nominations will also be sent to the candidates concerned. 8. Polling will be conducted in the premises of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University at No.69, Anna Salai, Guindy, Chennai-600 032 between 10.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on 15.11.2024 (Friday). 9. Scrutiny and counting of votes will be done from 3.30 p.m. on 15.11.2024 (Friday) and the result will be declared on the same day after the process is over. Note:- 1. The intimation of valid nominations would be sent to the candidates with a copy of the notification of the programme for the election containing last date of withdrawal and date of poll, etc. 2. If, for example, the final valid nomination is one and such candidate has not withdrawn his / her candidature or where there are more nominations and all the candidates except one have withdrawn their nominations in the manner prescribed, within the time specified for withdrawal, such candidate shall be declared to be duly elected and the result of the election will be published on the same day.
